Busan film festival to screen 2 Iranian documentaries

The 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea has set to host two Iranian documentaries.

‘Narrow Red Line’ by Farzad Khoshdast and Behzad Nalbandi’s ‘The Unseen’ will participate at the festival’s ‘Wide Angel’ program.

According to the festival’s website, the Wide Angel is “a section dedicated to showcasing outstanding short films, documentaries, and experimental films that offer broad cinematic viewpoints and a district vision”.

‘Narrow Red Line’, which is about a number of juvenile offenders who decide to perform a play on stage with the help of mentors in order to spend a day out of prison, is among the titles chosen for the Wide Angel’s Documentary Showcase.

Meanwhile, ‘The Unseen’ will vie at the Documentary Competition section.

“As part of a beautification process, local officials in Tehran decide to round up unsavory characters such as drug addicts. Men are usually released after a few days, but women are sent to a center on the outskirts of the city where social workers keep no records of the presence of these homeless women,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The Busan International Film Festival is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The 24th edition of the festival will be held in the South Korean city of Busan on October 3-12, 2019.
